Cookie Policy

Last updated: 7 September 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how UniBites (“UniBites”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website and use our app (the “Service”). By using UniBites, you agree to the use of cookies and similar technologies described in this policy. This policy works alongside our Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the website operator. “Similar technologies” includes local storage, web storage, and similar mechanisms that store information on your device. UniBites uses local storage and essential cookies to keep the Service functioning correctly.

2. Types of cookies and technologies we use

Essential cookies and local storage. These are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as your theme and cookie consent choice), and allow the Service to display correctly. You cannot disable these through the Service, but you can clear them using your browser settings — note that doing so may prevent some features from working.

Advertising cookies (non-subscribers only). For users who are not subscribed to UniBites Unlimited, we display advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads based on your activity and interests. UniBites Unlimited subscribers do not see advertisements and are not served these advertising cookies through the Service.

Email click-tracking. Links in the transactional and marketing emails we send may include click-tracking so we can measure engagement and improve our communications. We track whether a link is clicked, not whether an email was opened. You can ignore or delete such emails at any time.

We do not use additional third-party analytics or tracking cookies beyond those described above.

3. How long cookies remain

Essential cookies and local storage remain on your device until you clear them or until they are no longer required by the Service. Advertising cookies set by Google AdSense follow Google’s own retention rules, which you can review and manage through Google’s Ads Settings (ads.google.com).

4. Managing and disabling cookies

When you first visit UniBites, we show a cookie consent banner explaining how we use essential storage and advertising. You can accept or decline using the buttons provided; your choice is stored locally on your device. Essential cookies and local storage cannot be switched off through the Service, because the Service cannot operate without them.

You can control or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or clear cookies and local storage, some parts of the Service (such as staying signed in or remembering your preferences) may not work.

To manage Google advertising cookies, visit Google Ads Settings at ads.google.com or review Google’s policy on advertising cookies. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on if you wish to opt out of Google’s advertising-related measurement.

5. Third-party advertising

Google AdSense is a third-party vendor that serves advertisements on UniBites for non-subscribers. Google may use the DoubleClick DART cookie to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to our website or other websites. The use of cookies by Google and its partners is subject to Google’s own privacy and cookie policies, which we do not control.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or how we operate the Service. We will indicate the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where changes are significant, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of UniBites after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

7. Contact

If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy or how we use cookies and similar technologies, you can reach us through the Contact page or by writing to hello@unibites.co.uk.

We use essential cookies

UniBites uses essential storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. Free users may see ads served by Google AdSense, which can use cookies; subscribers don't. See our Cookie Policy and our Privacy Policy.
