Age Suitability

1. Age Rating

UniBites is rated 13+ on the Apple App Store.

The app may contain infrequent or mild references to alcohol where alcoholic drink recipes are included in the recipe library.

There is no content rated "High" in any App Store age-rating category.

2. Who UniBites Is Designed For

UniBites is a collaborative student cookbook designed primarily for students and young adults living on a budget.

The app is intended for users aged 13 and over.

Users under the age of 13 are not permitted to create an account or access social features.

3. Self-Declared Age Range

When a user first logs in, UniBites asks them to self-declare an age range:

• Under 13
• 13–17
• 18+

This declaration is stored on the user's account and used to determine which features are available to them.

Users who declare an age under 13 are blocked from social features (SnackSnap, Groups, Messaging, reviews, comments and follows) in line with App Store requirements and our own safety policy.

4. Social and User-Generated Content

UniBites includes optional social features such as recipe reviews, comments, photo sharing (SnackSnap), groups, and direct messaging.

These features are age-gated and only available to users who have declared an age of 13 or over.

User-generated content is moderated in line with our Community Guidelines, and users can report inappropriate content or behaviour directly within the app.

5. Alcohol Recipes

A small number of recipes in the UniBites library are categorised as alcoholic drinks.

These recipes are clearly labelled and are intended for users of legal drinking age. UniBites does not verify a user's age beyond the self-declared range and does not assume responsibility for a user's compliance with local alcohol laws.

6. In-App Purchases

UniBites offers optional in-app purchases, including a recurring UniBites Unlimited subscription and one-off recipe credits.

Purchases are processed by Apple's in-app payment system. Parental controls and Ask to Buy can be used to restrict or approve purchases on a child's device.

7. Advertising

UniBites may display third-party advertising to non-subscribers.

Ads are served through Apple-approved ad networks and are subject to Apple's advertising and privacy frameworks.

8. Data Collection

UniBites collects limited personal information necessary to provide the service, such as an email address for account creation.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. Parental Controls

Parents and guardians can use Apple's Screen Time and Content & Privacy Restrictions to manage app downloads, in-app purchases and content restrictions on a child's device.

We recommend enabling Ask to Buy for any account used by a minor to prevent unintended purchases.
